OUR HISTORY
The Nutridge Estate is located inside of the Pu’u Ualaka’a Wayside Park, the heart of Tantalus. In the Hawaiian language, the name if the state park refers to a crop that was once grown here. “Pu’u Ualaka’a” literally means “rolling sweet potato hill”.
Hosting breathtaking sunset views along the edge of the rainforest, the Nutridge Estate originally began as the home of Hawaii’s first macadamia nut plantation in the 1920s. Over the years, The Nutridge Estate has entertained many iconic guests, including Clark Gable, Frank Sinatra and Marilyn Monroe. The King of Rock, Elvis Presley, also spent some of his free time here while filming “Blue Hawaii.”
Today, the Nutridge Estate is home to Oahu’s #1 luau — a hands-on, intimate, backyard style lu’au dedicated to sharing the Spirit of Aloha. Unlike larger, big-production style lu’aus, the Experience Nutridge lu’au prides itself on offering a more authentic and personal experience that’s both entertaining and culturally enriching.
